Manager's Report

We are a 3rd of the way through what has been a very busy season. During the last two weekends the club has been in full flow with local league and the Stockton 4 Star open as well as Prem British League. The Open was singles and a team event with a high level of play and very difficult qualification process. If you lose, you're out. No runners up! You lose, you fail to qualify for the later rounds. The team event was a strong contest and team 1 had Wales in the first round and Daniel Basterfield and Damilola Thomas were very unlucky to go down 3-2, Daniel won both his singles but it was just short of carrying the team through. As a coach and Manager I was dissapointed with the performances of most of the player's and it's important they perform well in the next event.

Up at the Halton stadium, Widnes, proved a difficult weekend and a very frustrating one for me, anyone who knows Progress knows that the club has been built on hard work, team spirit and togetherness, one for all and all for one. The team Matt Ware, Dong Da Quin, Ashley Hayes and Chris Lewis all found the weekend difficult. I am very impressed with Matt Ware a young professional who I think will go a long way if he continues in this manner, Da Quin is now a coach and was a little slow and out of match practise with a little training he would be a strong number 2. Ashley and Chris really let me and themselves down, they admitted after they had not been training if they don't show more committment up they will be dropped hotter than a baked potato!!!
