Code of Conduct: For Players/Club Members

This Code of Conduct pertains to Greenhouse Progress Table Tennis Club Members

A player should:

1. Pay league fees on time

2. Make themselves available for events

3. Get in-training and Practice for upcoming events

4. Give adequate notice if unavailable for a planned event.

5. Make every effort to develop their own sporting abilities in terms of skill, technique, tactics and stamina.

6. Give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance during a match, even if his/her team is in a position where the desired result has already been achieved.

7. Set a positive example for others, particularly (other) young players and supporters.

8. Avoid all forms of gamesmanship, time-wasting, barrier kicking, bat-throwing and negative traits.

9. Always have regard for the best interests of the game including when publicly expressing an opinion of the game and any particular aspect of it, including others in the game.

10.Not use inappropriate language or behaviour

11.Act at all times in accordance with Club Sponsorship agreement.

Obligations towards themselves

A player should:

1. Make every effort to prepare for any upcoming event

2. Train regularly to maintain a high level or readiness

3. Be prepared to occasionally give time to other members of the club to help improve some aspects of their game.

4. Fully participate in training sessions.

Obligations towards one''s own team

A player should:

1. Make every effort consistent with fair play and the Laws of the game to help his/her own team win.

2. Resist any influence which might or might be seen to, bring into question his/her commitment to the team winning.

3. Encourage team mates during games

4. Not disagree with their teammates in public

5. Provide support to team mates during games

6. If appropriate, not shirk from umpiring when it is their turn to do so.

Respect for the laws of the Game, Spirit of the Game, and rules of the Competition

A player should:

1. Know and abide by the laws, rules and spirit if the game and the competition rules.

2. Accept success and failure, victory and defeat, equally.

3. Resist any temptation to take banned substances or use banned techniques.

Respect towards Opponents

A player should:

1. Treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of the result of the game

2. Treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of the result of their age, gender or ability.

3. Treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of what is said in the heat of the moment. If it is wrong for an opponent to be rude to you then it is also wrong for you to retaliate.

4. Safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play, and help opponents if injured.

Respect towards Match Officials

A player should:

1. Accept the decision of the match official without protest whether or not they disagree with the match official

2. Avoid words or actions which may mislead a match official

3. Show due respect towards match officials

Respect towards Team Officials

A player should:

1. Abide by the instructions of their coach and team officials, provided they do not contradict the spirit of this Code.

2. Show due respect towards the team officials of the opposition.

Obligations towards Supporters

1. Show due respect to the interests of fans, supporters and visitors.
